Hello everyone,
I can’t quite find a good video doorbell.
As mentioned above, a monitor with video for the intercom system should be installed both on the ground floor and the upper floor.
Has anyone already installed this and can share their experience with us?
Thanks & good luck & Merry Christmas

I have a Doorbird myself and several iPads mounted on the walls as monitors, which I can also use to control other things. How do you manage having tablets mounted on the walls all the time? Are they constantly connected to a power supply, or do you have to take them down regularly to charge them?

It looks tidy and can stay like that permanently. Here I used the Basalte Eve frame, a very attractive solution:
Aren’t the plugs on the Basalte units permanently attached?
Rumor has it that Apple will soon switch to USB-C as well. So after a few years at the latest, the mount will just be electronic waste.
Or with the next generation, the size could change from 9.7 inches to 10.3 inches or something else entirely.
These things really put me off.
If I have to get up to go to the wall where the device is mounted, I might as well go to the table where it’s currently lying.

You obviously never had the part in your hand, right?
There’s nothing fixed to it, you can even use the original Apple charging cable and eventually also USB-C.

That’s why it was phrased as a question. Take it easy, brauner...How about the size? Is it universal?

How about the size? Is it universal? No worries. I just have a mild allergy to half-knowledge. Of course, it’s not universal because it’s made of metal and very, very slim. But it is available for almost every series. Fortunately, Apple devices have a fairly long lifespan and rarely change their shape within a series (iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro, etc.) across generations. I definitely wouldn’t spend the money on some random Android tablet that stops receiving updates after six months. That’s also why this thing isn’t made for Android.

If I have to get up to go to the wall where it hangs, I might as well go to the table where it’s lying. That’s true for all fixed displays. They are usually installed in central locations where you pass by frequently. And above all, they’re not intended for constant use but rather for key functions. However, if you use a tablet in the usual way for this purpose, it’s basically never where you need it at the moment or it’s out of battery. With small children at home, it usually ends up in some drawer as well. In that case, you might as well forget it. If I want the functions close at hand all the time, I just use my smartphone.
