The question is already stated above. Our electricians are currently chasing the cables. It’s incredible how much construction dust is generated. How do you handle this? Do you vacuum the shell construction from time to time?

I’m looking forward to hearing about your experiences and appreciate any tips!

I made the mistake of not cleaning the construction site regularly. This encouraged other tradespeople to leave their messes behind as well. I would definitely recommend keeping things tidy promptly, but ideally, the people responsible should take care of it themselves. You should only step in if absolutely necessary.

How exactly are you supposed to get the tradespeople to clean up?

Although this is my first time building, the cliché "after me, the flood" seems to fit construction sites quite well.

I actually ended up with blisters. The worst part, however, was the dirt from plastering—the countless splatters that were created... Scraping for hours to get the floor reasonably even again for the insulation... Some builders, like @rick2018, have tradespeople who clean up. But that apparently comes at a cost.

I can’t really say much about construction dust since we built a timber house and only had wood shavings at most.

In our case, the tradespeople always left everything very clean; otherwise, we would have cleaned up afterward. This has two sides: if I clean up myself, I only pay the crew for the work itself—so it’s basically a contribution of my own labor. On the other hand, my impression is that if they have to clean up themselves, they try not to create too much mess while working.

So you can handle it however you prefer. Personally, I wouldn’t just leave the mess as is. That tends to encourage all tradespeople to be careless in this regard.

All trades cleaned up meticulously after themselves every day.
