Hello,

I would like to know who has experience with WPC and which brands they have used?!

Hi,

We have WPC decking from Megawood on the apartment terrace (I’m not sure off the top of my head whether it’s the "WPC Barefoot Decking PREMIUM" or the "Plus" version).

We are still very satisfied after 5 years. Back then, everyone advised against solid boards and recommended avoiding hollow chamber boards.

The usual example was: If it freezes in winter and moisture gets into the chambers, what happens when the ice expands? That seemed logical to us, and the price difference was negligible.

In spring, the boards (just under 6m (20 feet) long each) are sprayed down with a hose and cleaned with a scrub brush to remove any green algae. It sounds harder than it actually is.

I’m chiming in here as well: I’m also interested in your experiences with WPC, especially the comparison between hollow chamber and solid boards. In particular, when planning to screw the decking directly onto battens instead of using clips.

In that case, hollow chamber decking boards are strongly discouraged. You need to work very precisely and only screw where the individual ribs between the hollow chambers are located. If you are a few millimeters off, there is always a risk that the screw will go into the hollow chamber, especially if tightened too much. However, if you use a substructure and clips, very good results can be achieved with hollow chamber decking boards.

On a roof terrace of a white house: gray wooden decking, garden furniture, EU flag in the background.

Thanks for the information!
