ᐅ Which Sensors for What? Inspiration

Hello everyone,

we need to start giving the electrician instructions on what to install where and how to configure it.
I could use some guidance on what makes sense where and would like to ask you KNX users how you use it. Which sensors can be used in a basic way (without advanced components, as our electrician can’t handle that, and I will have to do that myself later) for the classic applications?

I am mainly interested in the following:

1. Presence detectors (PD)
2. Motion sensors (MS)
3. Switched sockets/outlets

Yes, I have already discussed this with you. This is exactly what I just described. You can then differentiate between open, closed, or tilted.

Oh, I somehow missed that. Sorry.
Sounds good though! Thank you.

However, this is only possible if you explicitly order tamper monitoring. If you just order two contacts for open/closed/tilted status, your exact concern could indeed happen, and you might lock yourself out.

At our place, the reed switches on the window are only closed when the window itself is fully closed. This means that if you just pull the window slightly from the outside, the reed switch still registers as open.

Closed or locked?

Unfortunately, I only thought of that just now, the windows have already been ordered. *facepalm*
Unfortunately, in the order I can only see “Aerocontrol.” All of these from Siegenia are described as locking monitoring. As far as I understand when looking at the manufacturer’s info, it apparently depends on the position where they are installed in the frame.

Assuming my fear comes true, is it possible to configure a binary input for the reed switch to have a locking function? Maybe via a push button or something like that?

Sealed -> Reed closes the contacts
