Hello everyone,
I would appreciate some critical feedback on my kitchen layout.
Attached are rendered images and the floor plan of the living and dining area.
The goal was a modern kitchen without a high-end focus for a two-person household.
The color is light gray and the countertop is matte granite in a cloudy anthracite tone.
I definitely want to keep my side-by-side refrigerator, even though the next one will probably be a French door model.
The dishwasher is located in the lower left under the oven (which includes a steam function).
The island measures 2.00 x 1.00 meters (6 ft 7 in x 3 ft 3 in). The distance between the kitchen row and the island is about 1 meter (3 ft 3 in).
The initial design sketch showed a wider island, but we adjusted it on site because it would have been too bulky.

Are the rendered images from the kitchen showroom? How deep is your side-by-side refrigerator? (In the picture, it looks like it is about 60cm (24 inches) deep – the same as the kitchen cabinets.)
Otherwise, it looks okay, but I’m not a kitchen specialist. To me, the countertop space seems a bit limited. Is that a fully integrated coffee machine (next to the refrigerator)?

Our planned kitchen looks quite similar, but in our case, the island is attached to the wall (due to space constraints).
I like the style, but there is one thing I would still change:
The wall cabinets have a different depth than the tall cabinets, which makes sense because otherwise, you would hit your head on the sink – but I didn’t like how that looked. So we solved it like this:
Basically, only the tall cabinets are offset, one row set back further than the other. It feels “calmer” to me. I also really like the shelf as a little extra space for decorative items.

Specifically, I have the following questions:
- Does the kitchen harmonize well with the overall space?
- Is the layout of the pull-out drawers practical?
- Are narrow pull-outs missing, as are common nowadays (for olive oil, etc.)?
On the backside of the island, I was considering (milk) glass doors, but that would interrupt the continuous half-height line that visually lightens the block.
P.S. This concerns a ProNorm Y-Line.
