I need your expert opinion to address the following issue:
We are currently planning to build a semi-detached house and would like to include a basement (waterproof concrete shell, finished as a living basement, ceiling height 2.40m-2.50m (7.9-8.2 feet)).
The prospective partner for the other half of the semi-detached house absolutely refuses to have a basement.
To what extent could this be problematic? I have understood that additional stabilization measures would be necessary on our side, which, according to the construction company, are not unusual and would cost approximately 3000-5000 euros. Once this additional stabilization is done, there should be no further problems (cracks, instability). Is that correct? Is it not, in layman’s terms, that "the house without a basement pushes against the one with a basement"?
How do you see this situation?
Thank you very much for your replies, best regards from Hamburg,

I was already aware that it would cost more. What matters to me is whether it is advisable to build something like this, or if there are significant reasons against it apart from the financial aspect.
