Hello, I have a question now. I often read about additional costs of up to 500 euros per month after building a house.
Why is this amount so high? There might be new items like insurance, but shared additional costs are also paid in a rental apartment, right?
Or am I missing something else? Thank you ☺️

I have now gone through the first bills for all utility costs and for 100m² (1,076 sq ft) I’m paying about €140 per month for electricity, gas, and water.
Waste disposal costs are €12.50 per month for three people.
Property tax: I was almost shocked… Previously, for the 70m² (753 sq ft) apartment in a prefabricated building, I paid about 80% of what they are asking now for the detached house. Honestly, it’s ridiculous. (I mean the ratio – it just doesn’t seem right to me.) But I really don’t want to complain; I expected much worse. It currently comes to €35 per quarter.
Still missing are home insurance (€200 per year, which I took partly for fun because I found it amusing that even damage from space debris is covered) and internet (€45 per month).
So, excluding savings for repairs and costs for craftsmen (maintenance or similar), it’s about €230 per month for 100m² (1,076 sq ft).
I also have contents insurance, but I consider that a separate item, not part of the house running costs. About €10 per month.
For the 70m² (753 sq ft) apartment, I paid about €150 before. So, the ratio of utility costs per square meter has actually held up quite well.

Electricity prepayment 149€ per monthWow, 150€ per month for electricity is quite a lot. Don’t you have solar panels on the roof? Is that only domestic and heating power, or are there other high-consumption devices connected? With gas plus electricity, I end up at about 100€ per month in total.

35€ for a quarter of property tax sounds more like an empty plot of land without a building Unbuilt plots are often more expensive than relatively old, small apartments...MayrCh schrieb:
Wow, 150€/month electricity is definitely a hefty amount. Don’t you have photovoltaic panels on the roof? Is it only for domestic and heating electricity, or are there other major consumers connected?
With gas plus electricity, my total is pretty much exactly 100€/month. Yes, we do have photovoltaic panels and as of this month also a battery storage system. The electricity is for comfort and heating due to the heat pump. An electric car is also being charged, which costs about 40-45€ per month. So it’s comparable to your situation with electricity and gas. But the big electricity consumer was definitely the heat pump from early November to the end of February. What it used consumed was really bad, and we didn’t heat the basement at all anymore.
