Hello everyone
After purchasing a plot of land in Neuhofen, Rhineland-Palatinate, we would like to build an extension onto an existing semi-detached house.
We are now looking for a general contractor.
I would be very grateful for any experiences and advice you can share.

Next week we will receive our floor slab!
Construction started on 14.04.20
We experienced a significant delay.
However, Massivhaus Wonnegau was not to blame!
We had issues with the building authority.
We waited over 4 months for our building permit / planning permission.
We are very satisfied with MW.
Of course, there were a few minor issues, but they were resolved quickly.
May I ask where you plan to build?
You might want to visit the construction site.
Best regards Thank you for the quick reply. We want to build in Alsheim (Mettenheim is nearby) and are waiting for the offer from MW. Currently, nothing is happening on our side due to the coronavirus. We had an appointment at the show home at the beginning of March, and then the lockdown started. Have you had many appointments, or did everything fit well with MW right away? I’m glad that work on your site is continuing despite the current situation.

I’m glad that work on your construction site is continuing despite the current situation. If you mean other general contractors (GCs), yes, as I mentioned earlier in the post.
With MW, we also had several appointments before signing the contract.
Just to clarify small details.
The doors were always open if we had any questions.
You invest a lot of money when building a house, so we just tried to clarify everything in advance.
Yes, work on the construction site is continuing.
However, we avoid contact with the workers.
This is also to protect other homeowners.

They took the bricks.
Just in a different color. Sedax, I have a few more questions. Was there a specific start date for construction set at the time of signing the contract? When did the architect get in touch with you? Is there also a completion date? And what period of interest-free standby time did you agree on with the bank?

That still depends on various factors.
We had to wait a long time for our building permit / planning permission.
I would have to estimate when the architect contacted us.
I think it took about 6 weeks.
But it felt very long to us.
Right after signing, the excitement is very high, and you want to start immediately.
Yes, there is a completion date.
8 months from the start of construction.
Although again, various factors come into play.
Interest-free period agreed with the bank was 1 year.
