Our construction scope specifies that we will carry out the above-mentioned work ourselves or pay for it separately. For this, the general contractor provided us with cost estimates that I would like to validate with you.

We have approximately 195 sqm (2,100 sq ft) of area with a standard ceiling height, excluding bathrooms where tiles are included. Our general contractor estimated costs of 10,250 EUR. Based on your experience, do you consider this a realistic estimate?

I understand that prices can vary greatly depending on the type of flooring material, but to determine our final costs, I need an approximate figure. I would appreciate any feedback.

What are the 10,000 supposed to cover? Complete self-labor? If you want to have the work done by someone else, that amount isn’t even enough for the painter.

Even with self-labor, you need to at least calculate the cost of materials. That amount falls far short.

That is probably not even enough for the flooring if it is going to be done.

Even with self-performance, you just need to roughly calculate the material costs. That amount is far from sufficient.
It also seems very low to me, which is why I asked.
According to the general contractor, that includes material plus labor costs—that is, the final amount without any self-performance.

Can you provide more realistic cost estimates?

What kind of flooring are you planning?
We had the material selection appointment on Friday – engineered hardwood flooring roughly starts at 50 euros per square meter (about 5.50 USD per square foot).

Vinyl or laminate options are, of course, more affordable.
