Hey,

I would like to install under-cabinet lighting beneath the wall-mounted cabinets.

The kitchen is U-shaped. When standing at the entrance of the U, there is a section 1.55m (5 feet) long to the left, up to the corner, and then continuing around the corner along the entire wall length of 3.10m (10 feet), except for a break in the middle due to the recirculation hood.

Does anyone have recommendations for good and affordable options? The power outlets are located near the ceiling on the left and right sides of the 3.10m (10 feet) wall.

Thanks!

Unfinished room with plaster stains, open cable from the ceiling, blue floor trim, light.

I also have a U-shaped kitchen and ordered integrated lighting directly inside the tall cabinets. These are dimmable LED lights with a sensor. I definitely did not want any additional fixtures or similar mounted underneath.

That turned out to be a very good decision—whenever it gets a bit darker, I simply turn on the lighting.

RGB strips, whether exposed, integrated into a profile, or simply screwed/glued underneath, are standard practice nowadays.

Or is the question specifically about lights designed to be mounted underneath with replaceable light sources?

Yes, possibly something like that using Philips Hue strips. Probably with two strips, one on the left side up to the hood and one on the right side up to the hood... Then run the cables behind the wall cabinets up to the electrical outlets.

I am at a similar stage as you. I am planning to use LED light strips from IKEA (e.g., Omlopp) and integrate them with TRÅDFRI for remote control functionality.

In my kitchen, I have planned the Irsta lights from Ikea. I really like them a lot.
