ᐅ What is currently the best heating system?

Hello everyone,

The planned construction start for our approximately 160m² (1,722 sq ft) bungalow is scheduled for early 2013. We are currently still in the planning phase. Now the question arises: which heating system should we choose? Can you recommend anything?

I would like to move away from oil or gas heating systems. Technically, I am already convinced of pellet heating, but I would prefer to be independent. What alternatives are left then? Heat pump?

Best regards, EarlGrey

I would say:
Large buffer tank
Solar system with vacuum tube collectors
Support from heat pump or wood log boiler
Wall heating with a supply temperature of 26°C (79°F)

Well, Euro,
the fact that Brandenburg hasn’t caught up yet is probably not our problem. They still haven’t moved beyond cast radiators from the former East Germany era, and underfloor heating is only something they've heard about.

Just a question out of curiosity: What indoor temperatures can you roughly achieve with that in a typical house built according to current energy-saving regulations?
I find it hard to believe that a surface heating system, whether underfloor or wall-mounted, with a supply temperature of only 26 degrees, can keep a house comfortably warm during the coldest winter.

Ok, for those who can handle it, this might certainly be energy-efficient. For me, it wouldn’t work. 22-23°C (72-73°F) would personally be too low. Comfortable and cozy means, for me, being able to sit on the couch in a T-shirt and shorts even in the coldest winter without feeling chilly. My limit is 24-25°C (75-77°F).

Then I can only recommend a sauna stove in the living room or, for the extra cost, save 4°C (7°F) over 3-4 months entirely and head off to the Caribbean. That’s probably cheaper.
