Maybe some of you have experience?

Our newly installed refrigerator is humming. Is this still normal nowadays, or am I too sensitive? Our kitchen is part of a large open-plan space that includes the dining and living areas. I can even hear the refrigerator when I’m in the living area. What can I do? Could it be because of the large open space? My 25-year-old refrigerator in the old apartment didn’t make any noise.

Sorry, I was just out grabbing pizza, so here’s something about expensive kitchen appliances!

Why Gaggenau? Because I was very satisfied with the Gaggenau appliances in my old kitchen. I like the handling and the design. The refrigerator in the old house made no noise at all, so I assumed the new appliances would be the same.

@guckuck2

Thank you as well for the many helpful tips!

- Yes, it’s still not fully furnished.
- The temperature is around 8°C (46°F).
- No hot food is stored inside.
- And it’s not opened very often at the moment.
- However, the room is indeed still sparsely furnished. No curtains have been hung yet.

I will take a closer look at it again tomorrow.

Our open-plan living area is also sparsely furnished (there is an echo when making phone calls), and nothing can be heard from our cheap, freestanding Samsung that’s six years old. Nothing... nada...
If necessary: claims!

We only hear our LG freestanding side-by-side refrigerator when it’s running the power cooling mode.
And no, the new one doesn’t have to be louder. The (Miele) dishwasher is rather on the loud side, though "loud" is relative—it’s quieter than our previous Bosch, but you can still hear it, so I wouldn’t want it in the living room.
On the other hand, the new washing machine (Miele) is almost silent!

My washing machine is the same—but that’s because one of the fans is faulty. So opening it up and replacing the fan would definitely be better, at least for the PC.

How can a washing machine be silent? Which Miele model do you have?
Our machine is clearly audible when spinning, everything else would surprise me.

Of course, you can hear something, but really very little. I mainly meant compared to the Siemens one we had before. And the laundry comes out significantly cleaner as well.

My Miele is 2dB louder than yours during washing and spinning... seems to make quite a difference...
