Hello everyone,
I would like to hear your suggestions on the type of television connection you use.
- Satellite (SAT)
- Cable
- DVB-T2
- Via internet connection
- Other?
In the age of Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and others, will traditional TV still be watched in 10 years? That’s why I’m considering not mounting a satellite dish on the facade (because it doesn’t look good).
Let me know how you currently receive TV signals in your new builds.
Have a nice evening.

A topic I can’t resist giving my two cents on:
- As much good network coverage as possible everywhere
- A satellite connection in the living room if needed
Who knows what the future holds, but having a satellite connection in every child’s room seems outdated to me. Modern network cables support 10 or even 40 Gbit/s. That will be more than enough for a long time.

Just throwing this out there...
We have been using IPTV from Telekom for years, are very satisfied, and don’t want anything else.
The issue is that no one can currently say what internet speed our new build will get. The surrounding area is fully developed, sometimes even with 250 Mbps (megabits per second). But some future neighbors have only 50 Mbps. According to Telekom’s current statements, anything between 250 and 16 Mbps could happen at our address.
Both cable and fiber would have cost around €20,000, so now we just have to hope that the connection will be fast enough.
We don’t really want satellite, but will probably have it installed just in case, to be prepared.
The point is that if you want IPTV for the whole family, the connection speed really matters. 50 Mbps can quickly become too slow. We experienced that ourselves before Telekom upgraded speeds on our street.
So for new builds, it’s important to consider the potential speed if you want to rely on IPTV.
We hope it will work out.
And regarding football, yes there is a delay. My simple solution is: close the window.

If so, what was the offer like, and what was the amount of the discount?H
hampshire8 Apr 2020 18:53Fiber optic internet out here in the countryside – it will take generations! We are glad to have received a vectored connection with 100Mbit/s download speed. There was a discount when booking the package. It took Telekom 15 months to install the line to the house; holes had to be dug in the streets, splice closures opened, and double pairs connected. It was quite a drama.
