Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

The wall next to the staircase will be fully tiled.
What type of tiles will you use?

The railing has just been installed as well. I was allowed to design and draft the braces myself.

Very cool, something a bit different.

Which tiles ?

Flaviker Rebel Emerald.
It will either look completely awful or really cool.

Looks great! We are currently working on this topic. For the ground floor, it will probably be floor-to-ceiling glazing. Upstairs, we also had a frameless glass railing quoted. It was in the same price range. Alternatively, flat steel—similar to yours, but instead of the individual rod infill, just three "flat steel straps" across, or whatever you want to call it.

That will be expensive
But it looks really, really good. The only downside, and why we decided against it, is that glass always reflects and requires a lot of cleaning.

Yes and no. So, floor-to-ceiling glass costs about 1000 EUR/meter (approximately per meter), but it replaces two railings: the one by the basement stairs and the stair railing from the ground floor to the upper floor. Yes, you have to be aware of the cleaning effort.

Only for the top part as a glass balustrade (full glass) it’s about the same price per meter, but you need more meters there. That’s why we chose flat steel without glass.
That cuts the price in half.

Did you mean this wall?

We also liked glass, but since I don’t enjoy cleaning very much, we decided to go with wood instead:
