Hello,

we have a roof terrace with slabs on pedestals. How often should the slabs be removed to clean the substrate, or at what intervals do you usually do this? Annually?

Thanks

Why do you want to clean the area beneath the panels if it’s not visible at all? I don’t have a construction like that myself, but I can’t think of a reason to access that space.

It’s not a matter of wanting to, but my understanding was that this should be done because dirt or other debris could accumulate there...

So? Does the dirt you can’t see bother you?

For example: do you take down your 3m (10 feet) long wardrobe in the bedroom every year because dirt could build up behind it? It’s the same with the panels. If weeds grow a meter (3 feet) high out of the joints, you might want to address the root cause (or simply use weed killer like RoundUp). But cleaning away "dirt" is not necessary.

I am sure that the system manufacturers’ guidelines include specific requirements here... Especially water should be able to flow away freely.

In practice, however, I don’t see any reason to take any measures unless there is a problem.
