Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Kitchen almost finished

For me, there is a huge imbalance in the materials and equipment in the kitchen.
You can’t hang a Berbel Skyline range hood over a countertop stove on a laminate worktop.
In my opinion, the money would have been better spent on a proper countertop, and a more affordable extractor hood instead.
It’s like putting a Ferrari engine into a Golf.

No one would put a Ferrari engine into a Golf, after all.

So you only see everything from a price perspective?
What kind of countertop would you have chosen with a Berbel Skyline?
The requirements for the range hood are different from those for the countertop. Specifically, it needs to be height-adjustable and self-cleaning...

For example, I think Bora with granite, Silestone, ceramic, or similar materials would have been more comfortable overall. These materials offer many advantages that probably outweigh the height adjustability of the Skyline in everyday use. Just the daily cleaning around the distracting edge of the cooktop is already more time-consuming than cleaning the hood every few months.

We definitely did not want a Bora. Friends who have one and cook a lot advised us against it because it gets dirty very quickly from splashes while cooking, and its extraction performance isn’t very good with taller pots.

A granite or Silestone countertop does have advantages, but it feels quite cold and also reflects a lot of light. Initially, we also wanted a stone countertop but consciously decided against it. Maybe we will get one someday...

For me, an affordable countertop and a high-quality range hood are not mutually exclusive.

Uh – really? Installing a Ferrari-level engine is actually a common tuning option.
Deliberately setting priorities and accents is especially a matter of style in interior design, not of price.
