Adonis01Hello everyone,
We have a plot of land with one long side running parallel to a sidewalk. There is an elevation difference of about 1 meter (3 feet) between the sidewalk and our property. If we shift or add fill to the land, the difference could increase to around 1.2 meters (4 feet). Because of this slope, which declines at about 45 degrees, we lose a significant amount of usable area—approximately 28 meters (92 feet) in length by 1.5 meters (5 feet) in slope.
We would like to extend and support our property line. Our neighbor on that side is the local municipality with its sidewalk. We are still considering how to retain the soil—whether using L-shaped concrete blocks or planting stones—so nothing is decided yet.
Our questions are:
Where can I find out what is allowed and what is not? Are there any regulations?
I want to avoid causing any trouble or asking too many questions with the authorities.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Best regards,
Mars

I can’t find any zoning plans on the geoportal. Many geoportals are still under development, and some municipalities don’t have one at all. Maybe your municipality hasn’t uploaded the zoning plans yet, or you may not have searched correctly, or there might not be any. The only certainty can come from one of the sleeping dogs.Vicky Pedia schrieb:
For example, in Thuringia you can build up to 2m (6.5 ft) high without a building permit. However, this does not exempt you from following the regulations. Backfilling behind a retaining wall is only permit-free up to 30m² (320 ft²). Public traffic areas are subject to road laws, on private properties neighbor law applies, there could be local design codes, and the zoning plan has already been mentioned.Similar topics
