Hello,
we plan to start work on our large outdoor area this year.
We are already in talks with a landscaper and aim to begin in May.
Our neighbors have already bordered their property with a retaining wall made of concrete blocks. See picture!
Their outdoor area is fully built up and finished, and has been for some time.
Now we wonder if we can simply work against the neighbors’ wall—that is, level the ground normally and sow grass? Or do we definitely need to clarify this with them first? What issues could arise?
The neighbors are friendly, and we will definitely discuss this with them before starting, but we wanted to ask in advance if anyone here has experience with this. What might they demand in a worst-case scenario?
Best regards and thanks

The wall is actually ideal for anchoring onto. It looks like exposed concrete blocks. But it belongs to the neighbor.

just straighten it out normally?Straighten it out? What exactly would that mean?
If it were on my property, I would ask whether the wall can or may be plastered.
As far as I can see in the picture, I think that would be the most visually and technically appropriate solution.
So that we also have a level lawn area at ground level
Oh, bushes will be planted there anyway as a privacy screen, so no plastering will be done.

@chewbacca123 talk to the neighbor, maybe he wants to do it too and you can share the costs. We need to check anyway. They want to build a carport that requires a building permit / planning permission because it’s too tall. We won’t approve it, though, as the rooms on that side would no longer get any light.
