Hello,
we have built a vestibule in front of our main entrance entirely from 36.5 cm (14 inches) Ytong blocks, connected to the garage. Now we would like to install windows and a door in this extension; underfloor heating installation is possible.
Currently, there is a significant thermal bridge caused by the lintel and concrete ceiling, while the roof is insulated.
If we apply a 30 mm (1.2 inches) PUR external wall insulation, would that be sufficient?
Best regards and many thanks
Patric

I consider 30mm (1.2 inches) to be too little! Without calculating, I would choose at least 50-60mm (2-2.4 inches), as the price difference should not be that significant due to the small surface area.

Without doing the calculations, I would already take at least 50-60mm (2-2.4 inches), the price difference should not be that big given the small areas involved. Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately, the parapet projects forward by 5.5cm (2.2 inches) already, so it can’t be any thicker since plaster still needs to be applied. Alternatively, an additional finishing strip would have to be installed under the parapet in order to allow for the 60mm (2.4 inches).
