Hello, I’m Christina (new to the forum)!

We are currently building a house and, once the project is completed, are considering adding a pool in the garden. What are your experiences? Can it be done as a DIY project? What type of heating have you chosen? How did it go for you?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Christina

Hello Christina, where and what are you building? The easiest way is to include the pool in the construction from the start. This also saves costs.

Lay water, electricity, sewage, etc. during construction.
Pools come in many sizes.
For a standard size of about 8x4 meters (26x13 feet), expect a minimum of €25,000.
Equipment inside the house or a separate technical room?
You can theoretically do a lot yourself. However, if you have no experience, it is more likely to go wrong.

Our pool was previously heated using solar panels on the roof, which worked well. Now, during renovation, photovoltaics will be installed on the roof, so we want to get a heat pump for the pool. The advantage is that you can heat efficiently even with little sunlight.

If you plan to address this after the house construction, make sure that an excavator can still access the back of the property. Include connections during the initial groundworks.

Buy the pop-up pool at Aldi in spring for €99 and keep a tally of how often you use it...
