ᐅ Light connection installed in the wrong location for the guest bathroom

Hello,

I am currently trying to solve a problem in our guest bathroom. Contrary to the original plan, the light connection for the toilet was installed on the wall instead of the ceiling, directly above the washbasin. A mirror is supposed to be installed there.

The bathroom is very small, only 2 sqm (22 sq ft).

Do you have any solutions for this issue? Would lighting from a mirror with built-in illumination be sufficient? Do you have any experience with that?

I have attached a picture of the bathroom. Unfortunately, the light connection is not visible. You can roughly see where the light comes from. At the moment, there is a bare bulb holder installed.

Logically, that is sufficient... we unnecessarily have an additional ceiling outlet – and for ME, it is always way too bright in that small room.

Stylish solution for ceiling lighting without major renovations:
Replace the switch with a porcelain surface-mounted switch and run an attractive cable with porcelain fittings up to the ceiling, then along the ceiling to the lighting point, and connect a lamp. Gi Gambarelli offers this, for example the White-Italy series. You can search online; it’s an Italian site with limited German translation but good images.

It might also be possible to bring power from an adjacent room (e.g., utility room) and make the light switchable or activate it with a motion sensor.

I wouldn’t want to miss the ceiling light in the guest toilet (though the mirror is still missing here) — photo taken from the floor upwards.

Thanks! For all your many responses. I’m really bad at choosing lighting, unlike with tiles .

When selecting lighting, practical use always needs to be considered alongside aesthetics. Well, I’ll go look for a suitable mirror with lighting now!

Thanks!

Score the plaster and cut into the ceiling with an angle grinder, then pull the cables. Done. Not a big deal.

That’s why it should be placed on the wall above the washbasin! That’s what you call practical.

In our guest bathroom, only lighting next to the mirror is planned. Could you also share the tile manufacturer and name? You really had a good eye for that.
