Hello everyone,

Since I have no prior experience, I would like to get some general information.
Our new building will be heated using an air-to-water heat pump.
What would generally and overall be the advantages, potential savings, and costs of installing a photovoltaic system on the roof? Is it worthwhile or not?

And you know this from secret sources? Officially, I haven’t seen anything about this anywhere so far.
There are only rumors that maybe and possibly it could happen.

But you have read post 24 already, haven’t you?

You can find official information about the current status of the legislative process online.

Yes, it should not be a "pickup line" but rather, as written, a question about the source. So far, I haven’t found anything that confirms the project is halted due to the nature conservation law. You can read a lot, but nothing definitive. In post 24, it only says "well, somehow it will be resolved."

Am I seeing this correctly?

- High initial costs (definitely won’t pay off within 10 years)
- Uncertain political developments regarding fees
- Significantly increased fire risk according to the fire department and/or problems with firefighting
- System performance decreases over the years
- Maintenance costs

Therefore: Overall, it doesn’t really make much sense.

Is that correct? Or did I misunderstand something?

No.

A photovoltaic system (without storage) pays off in about 10 years depending on self-consumption and if installed cost-effectively. There is political uncertainty regarding feed-in tariffs. Photovoltaic systems are not more of a fire hazard than a toaster. The fire brigade puts out fires using water, just like with any other appliance. Power loss is minimal and only occurs after many years. What maintenance costs? Of course, something can break down, just like your washing machine. You can clean and check the cables yourself.

Ah, okay.

But who can install it cheaply? The current usual contractor prices are simply high at the moment.

The fact that photovoltaic systems require special consideration regarding fire safety has been confirmed many times by the fire department itself. Just look up their statements on YouTube. They make sense.

So, power loss does occur. Okay. It just needs to be planned for in the long term.

Of course, if you are an electrician or have electrical skills, you can repair everything yourself. But the average homeowner or a lawyer probably won’t be working on it themselves. So, maintenance costs should be kept in mind. That’s fair enough. After all, you also plan a small monthly reserve for the washing machine.

So, it pays off in about 12 to 15 years? Then you have to consider power loss... replacement, and so on...

Hmm.

At the moment, it’s not interesting to me.

But I am open to other opinions. Maybe one or another argument will still convince me.
