Good morning from the Palatinate region.
My name is Uwe, and I have been following this forum for some time. We will soon start building our future home. Since we also have to work hard for our money, we are looking for ways to save a few bucks where possible. Regarding the topic mentioned above, I have already read a lot here and in other forums.
I understand that
- many windows produced in Poland are made from parts "Made in Germany,"
- many "German" windows are actually made in Poland,
- and window installation should be done by 100% professionals.
However, that is not what I am concerned about here. I am only interested in personal experiences from actual projects. Ideally, experiences spanning some time— for example, after four or five years. We are considering wood/aluminum windows. It would be great to receive practical advice here.
With that said: Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to a healthy 2020.

I am only interested in personal experiences with one’s own project. Ideally over a certain period—e.g., after four or five years. We are considering wood/aluminum windows. What I wrote about quality assurance for licensed products applies regardless of the material used; most aluminum windows from Ganzfeitfortistan are effectively Schüco. I managed an aluminum window manufacturer (with its own profile system) and when deciding to stop our own production, I carefully evaluated where we could purchase without worrying about the product’s reputation. I found several companies in both the Benelux region and, at the approximate opposite end, Poland/Czech Republic/Slovakia as well as other neighboring countries, that met this criterion. Keep in mind, our standard was our own products, which still looked fresh after 40 years (and besides some hardware adjustments were still in excellent condition).
However, wood/aluminum clearly conflicts with the desire,

where we can save a buck or two. For wood/aluminum, only Pax AG scored fully in our evaluation. Since joining this forum, I have seen more wood/aluminum windows being offered here that are even cheaper than pure aluminum; in my opinion—and I’m open to being convinced otherwise—this is only possible if wood qualities are used that rely fundamentally on the aluminum cladding to ensure weather resistance overall. In my blunt expression—feel free to assess the truth at your own risk—these become “board battens covered with metal sheeting.”
Aluminum costs about 20% more, but PVC competes on a very different price level, so on the market it is often not 120:100 but rather 120:90 or 120:80. Wood/aluminum could then be as unfavorable as 140:80, which is the opposite of “saving money on purchases”—even if, in my view, it pays off over the long term.
Therefore, I generally recommend pure aluminum, confidently even from Poland, Czech Republic, or Slovakia; and without worrying about surfaces feeling cold to the touch; also, the finishes look as convincingly “real” as furniture veneers. Aluminum from Benelux is not significantly more expensive, but with lower language barriers when ordering. But it’s best to decide based on where your installing dealer has their connections.

nordanney26 Dec 2019 17:56Experience with "Polish" windows:
1. Single-family house built in 2014
Veka profiles installed in Poland with Saint-Gobain triple glazing. Installed by Polish workers, ordered in Poland.
No difference compared to “German” windows.
2. Condominium built in 2017
Plastbud profiles with Polish triple glazing. Installed by Germans, ordered in the Ruhr area.
No difference compared to “German” windows.
All are “plastic” windows, but significantly cheaper than from local window manufacturers. Single-family house windows at least 50% cheaper, condominium windows about 20-30% cheaper.

I want to replace windows in an older building and am also interested in Polish windows. Therefore, my question to Nordlys and Norderney:
Did you order the windows directly from the Polish manufacturer?
Did the manufacturer arrange the installation?
Or did you order through a German dealer?
Can/would you be willing to share the manufacturer’s name?
Thank you in advance for a quick response,
I need to decide soon.

What is the reason for replacement, which windows are currently installed, and since when approximately?https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/

Or did you order through a German retailer? For the single-family house: Ordered in Poland and installed by Polish window manufacturers (contacted through our Polish/German roofer).
For the condominium: Ordered in Germany (Mülheim an der Ruhr) and also installed by the local retailer. Company Plastbud Ruhr (or plastbud-germany?).

I need to decide quickly. Ordered through a German joiner, who also handled the installation. Manufacturer unknown, the sticker said something with Szczecin. Probably a smaller company. Veka profiles were used, Roto handles, Winkhaus metal fittings.
