Hello,

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything in the search regarding my question....
Can someone tell me the annual heating energy demand per square meter allowed for a KfW 40 / 40 plus house?

Our development plan states that we must stay below 15 kWh per square meter per year, and we hope this is achievable with a KfW 40 house.

Yes, I wouldn’t be keen on district heating either. I can understand that.
But the clause is clear. Proof must be provided according to PHPP = Passive House.
15 kWh/m² (10.7 kBtu/ft²) is the maximum value for Passive House, KfW 40 maximum is 25.

There is only one solution: find a company that builds passive houses as a standard and see if it is worth it.

15 kWh/m² (1.4 kWh/sq ft) is the maximum value for Passive House; KfW 40 maximum is 25.

I’m just asking, why does district heating not make sense? I have heard from many people how convenient district heating is. Maybe there are also other opinions against it.

District heating is usually (!) too expensive for low energy demand.
I can understand the original poster well and would aim for a passive house. Depending on the building structure and floor plan, this is often not very complex. However, sometimes it can also be very challenging to implement.
This should be something an energy consultant familiar with PHPP can advise on.

PHPP, meaning Passive Houses.
A simple "KfW 40" house is therefore not sufficient.

It only states that the specified values according to PHPP must be met. PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) is simply a design tool.

The requirement is not "Build a Passive House," but rather "Build a house whose annual heating demand corresponds to that of a Passive House and demonstrate this using PHPP." This can, of course, be a Passive House, but it does not have to be.

I think KfW40 should be sufficient.
We are "only" at KfW55 with a heating demand of 19 kWh/m².
