Hey,

if you want to install a PoE access point on the ceiling, the prerequisite is an existing LAN cable. Does the cable end get a standard network plug that is then connected directly to the access point, or does it get a socket, and a short patch cable is used to connect the two sockets—the one on the cable and the one on the PoE device? Is it correct that with an existing PoE switch, only the LAN cable coming from the ceiling is needed, meaning no power adapter that would have to be installed somewhere in the ceiling structure?

Thanks!

I had to learn that these field-terminable RJ45 connectors, which are attached to a patch cable, are too bulky and do not fit into our access points (UAP AC Pro). Therefore, keystone modules are used instead, to which a short patch cable is then connected.

Ah, got it. Basically like a network outlet but without any plastic casing.

Is it sufficient if the cable comes directly out of the ceiling, connecting to a keystone module, with the access point installed just above the outlet? Or are there other options?

Exactly the same, @Andre77
However, it works best if you use an in-wall device box (for drywall or flush-mounted). You need the space inside the box to properly accommodate the keystone module.

The best way is to install a device mounting box (for hollow walls or flush mounting). You need the space inside the box to properly fit the keystone module.
I should have done it like that too. It’s going to be tight for me.

Ok. Understood.

I thought the space under the access point would be enough, as I have seen in some cases. But then with a junction box instead.
