Hello,
Would you partially forgo openable windows in a new build with controlled residential ventilation? More fixed panes or only casement windows instead of tilt windows?
Manual ventilation is no longer desired then.

Cooking odors
Overheating from the sun in winter
Smells from new furniture glue
House parties
Forgetting to take out the trash
None of these can be fully handled by mechanical ventilation alone; opening the windows for 5 minutes helps.
I’m also a fan of mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, but it definitely has its limits...
