Hello,

I’m just starting with the house planning and wondering where to get bricks or offers for bricks.
Can you order them online like most other things, or do you have to buy them locally because they are so large and heavy?
I’m interested in bricks like the Leipfinger-Bader 42.5 - UNIPOR W08 - Plan (247 x 425 x 249 millimeters (9.7 x 16.7 x 9.8 inches)).

Best regards,
Peter

Local building materials supplier.

Edit: For specialized items, call the manufacturer and ask for authorized dealers.

Hello Peter Hausbau,

basically, the local building materials supplier is the first place to check, as @Tassimat mentioned. However, it is also worth asking local construction companies, as they often have better terms. Maybe they will pass something on. Even if it’s just the delivery to the construction site that you get.

Are you building the shell of the house yourself? Usually, your structural builder will provide the necessary bricks. Otherwise, the tip to use a local building materials supplier is very good; we built our garage in EL and had all the materials delivered by the building supplier.

Yes, I plan to do the shell construction myself. I have an acquaintance who is a bricklayer and can help me a bit.

If you plan to do the bricklaying yourself: please don’t. Bricklaying is a skilled trade for a reason. If you have the time, it’s better to hire two experienced bricklayers who want to earn some extra money, have them guide you, and assist them. But be sure to check with the BG (professional association) beforehand.
