ᐅ Bathtub in the bedroom – what do you think about that?

Hello everyone,
to keep it short: What do you think about having a bathtub (with whirlpool function) in the bedroom?
Since we are renovating and have to work around the load-bearing walls, the bathroom can’t be large enough to comfortably fit a shower, bathtub, toilet, and double vanity. Because the adjacent master bedroom is very spacious, I have been considering placing the bathtub there.
The advantage is more space in the bathroom. Some questions I have are: Do I still need the rest of the bathroom if I take baths? How will it look visually? Will the humidity cause any problems?
Looking forward to your opinions!

We will be installing tiles throughout the entire house, so water should not be an issue.

User: My husband and I like to bathe together. So far, we have done this without bubbles or with a whirlpool mat. We also enjoy staying at hotels with hot tubs on vacation. We don’t have children yet, but if we do, I don’t see any problem with them bathing in the bedroom, right? And they wouldn’t do that every day anyway.

I am a bit concerned that dirt (or cats) might accumulate inside (but that also happens in the bathroom). I could imagine using a cover for this. I once saw cushions designed to be placed on top.

Temperature: Since we will be insulating, there probably won’t be significant temperature differences between rooms. I don’t need a warm room for bathing, nor does warmth bother me when sleeping. A normal temperature should be fine.

Since this concerns only the bathtub and not the entire bathroom, I don’t think there is a risk of us having to see each other naked against our will.

Not every day, but sometimes at 6 a.m. (after a night out at the club)!

Bathing at night? At most just rinsing off the dirt...
Doesn’t matter.

Tiles throughout the whole house? Okay, now I’m out, that’s a definite no-go for me, I would never agree on that...

Because the master bedroom next door is very large, I was wondering if the bathtub should be placed there?

Using the same logic, next week someone might ask if the freezer or winter tires should go in the bedroom. Better to stop this from the start!

Yes, exactly. It doesn’t matter.
It’s just an example where a couple complicates things by building something that creates space or serves a purpose, which eventually does not work when children come along—children whom the parents raise independently and take full responsibility for.
Ideally, a couple might still consider toddlers (which is no problem), but no one really expects that from around age 8 (more or less) these children become independent individuals with their own will and character. And why should they want to bathe only when it suits their parents? For these reasons, issues about privacy or modesty can arise and become problematic. It might be seen as selfish, for example… whatever… doesn’t matter!

Yes, toddlers quickly grow into children who want privacy in the bathroom and bathtub—not only once they turn 18. My girls are almost grown and moved out now, but even at ten years old, they would have been grateful not to have to bathe in the parents’ bedroom, especially while Dad was sick in bed with a stomach virus. And I would have appreciated being able to quickly grab warm socks from the closet, without one of them taking a long, uninterrupted bath.

We also enjoy bathing together sometimes, but I would look for a different solution in this case.
