ᐅ Mold inside a 3-year-old house at the wall/ceiling corner

Hi,

I need some advice. In our house (3 years old, solid construction, 36.5cm (14 inches) Poroton blocks), there is mold forming in one room at the corner where two walls (both exterior walls) and the ceiling (upper floor under the flat roof) meet. There is no mold anywhere else in the house, and we ventilate the room daily.

I had the roofer check the site, and they removed the roof down to the concrete layer, but everything is dry there.

Now we’re really stuck... Everyone is puzzled. What could be causing this problem?

Thank you and best regards

Most likely, there is no construction defect.

It is standard practice for the planner/architect to develop a ventilation concept according to DIN 1946-6. If no one has informed you about this or if it has not been done, this can indeed be considered a construction defect.

You mean they should have told him to air out the house five times a day?
And because they didn’t do that, it’s a CONSTRUCTION DEFECT?
No way.

It needs to be repainted anyway because of the stains, so take the opportunity to insulate the two exterior walls beforehand with gypsum board and expanded polystyrene composite panels, then fill and finally paint. The additional insulation will reliably solve the problem once and for all.

It is quite possible (most likely even) that this is a heating/ventilation issue. I think it is premature to start using insulation wedges already.

And if necessary, (most likely here as well) insulation wedges would be sufficient.
