Hello everyone,

this thread is meant to be a bit more positive .

I’ll start: these are things I would definitely do again:

- Brick facade (but only a fully colored one)
- Clay brick
- Two stories
- Controlled residential ventilation system
- Smart home
- Minimum clear ceiling height of 2.60m (8.5 feet)
- Large windows
- Open-plan design

What about you?

Best regards

Or for men who then can’t claim they have back pain instead of helping out (those in the know understand, rrch).

We are not finished yet, but there are already a few things I wouldn’t want to do without:

- My hobby room in the basement with a projector and enough space for a pool table — I’m actually most excited about this room
- Our wood stove, which we heated for the first time today, looks great

And something intangible — the personal effort and doing things yourself. Even though it can be stressful at times and requires a lot of time and energy, in the end it’s somehow satisfying to know, for example, that the wall was built and plastered by yourself.

For me, this kind of thought is mixed with the memory of how unfinished it looked during the process – and that fades more easily when the walls were built by someone else and seen bare. But I also appreciate the basic idea that “food tastes better when you cook it yourself.”

We like to look through the photos we constantly take at the various construction sites. Just yesterday again. Before: former pigsty with a low ceiling, dirty walls with peeling plaster, a crooked wooden door, ugly glass blocks. Then: construction site. Floor broken up, sand shoveled, lots of sand shoveled. Walls torn down, ceiling opening closed, pipes laid in the floor, poured in lightweight concrete... I still shake my head inside thinking about it. What muscle soreness that was! Carrying sand-lime bricks, building walls, laying tiles, grouting, plastering the ceiling – the severe neck tension that stayed with me for days! Painting, installing bathroom fixtures, setting up the heating system, maneuvering oil tanks inside, assembling cabinets. Now it’s unimaginable. Everything is in its place, and I smile every time I enter the laundry room. I’m proud of our work. I chuckle about the slightly crooked wall by the elevator that my husband built, and the one mosaic tile sheet that I laid without paying attention to the color differences. It would have been a completely different story if a company had done it. The bank account agrees *laugh*

Many of my friends and acquaintances always look at it and shake their heads. They don’t understand the purpose or the whole concept behind it. I often had to explain it and was then smiled at, but I want to say it clearly: I like my bidet!

Personally, I’m not a fan of front-loading machines and prefer top-loading washers. I take the laundry out piece by piece and place it neatly into the basket – it saves ironing.
Piece by piece and neatly into the basket – that also works with a front-loader

Mine even has a pull-out platform to set the laundry basket on, THAT is brilliant!
Mine too... it’s a separately purchased metal frame @Grantlhaua

You don’t clean the "little husband" just for yourself after all
