Hello everyone,

this thread is meant to be a bit more positive .

I’ll start: these are things I would definitely do again:

- Brick facade (but only a fully colored one)
- Clay brick
- Two stories
- Controlled residential ventilation system
- Smart home
- Minimum clear ceiling height of 2.60m (8.5 feet)
- Large windows
- Open-plan design

What about you?

Best regards

Exactly, just a simple base... laundry baskets still fit underneath, perfect height for loading and unloading without straining your back

How did you isolate the base from the floor? I’ve read several times that masonry or concrete bases tend to transmit noise throughout the entire house if they are not properly decoupled.

I’m building ours now from structural timber...

Ah OK.. In older buildings, I am only familiar with 30cm (12 inches) plinths to keep the equipment dry during floods.

The base sits on a raw concrete floor and is fully decoupled with XPS boards. We have had no issues with sound transmission.

I have no idea – you can see in the photo that there is something behind and underneath. You can’t hear anything.

I would really wish for a base like that now, bending down is not only inconvenient for people with back problems but also, for example, for pregnant women :P
