Hello everyone,
this thread is meant to be a bit more positive .
I’ll start: these are things I would definitely do again:
- Brick facade (but only a fully colored one)
- Clay brick
- Two stories
- Controlled residential ventilation system
- Smart home
- Minimum clear ceiling height of 2.60m (8.5 feet)
- Large windows
- Open-plan design
What about you?
Best regards

Fummelbrett!16 Nov 2019 16:44That’s quite a list. Things I hardly notice anymore myself, but I do notice when other houses don’t have them:
- Pedestal under the washing machine/dryer
- Spacious pantry cupboards in the laundry room
- A few small clotheslines in the utility room opposite the laundry area
- Dirt shower in the laundry room at the exit to the garden
- Carport
- Kitchenette next to the living room
- “Service lift” (for firewood for the living room fireplace, for example)
- Fireplace in the living room
- Walk-in closet
- Storage room
- Large corner bench with a big table in the hallway
- Recessed front door
- Outdoor light with motion sensor
- Utility sink at the garden shed
- 3 outdoor water taps plus 2 automatic hose rewinders
- Lighting in the greenhouses plus LED floodlights on the vegetable bed
I’m sure I would list other things as “essential” if I had them ^^ You get used to comfort so quickly… (says the person who never thought heated seats in the car were important… until they had them )

- Walk-in closet
...Ah, just like in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. So, the biggest improvements compared to the previous apartment in the block rental are:
- Parking right at the house, no stairs, no annoying search in the evening for a place to leave the car...
- Spacious bathroom with natural daylight
- Kitchen where the everyday dining table comfortably fits
- Finally having your own outdoor space for a few flowers and two or three small vegetable beds
Yesterday I spent several hours outside even though the weather was really bad. I was completely frozen and ended up lying on the floor with a blanket, enjoying the warmth from below.
Many of these things could probably also be rented, just like every child has their own room.
