Hello,

Before waterproofing our basement, the basement builder told us to completely grind it down with a coarse grinding disc until the basement surface is roughened.

Why do you need to do that, and what material is the basement constructed from that requires smoothing of the exterior surface?

Kind regards

Hello.

OK. I would have bet everything that I wrote this ... you get old ;-)

It is a precast concrete basement that is poured on site, and according to the basement builder, this is not meant for smoothing but rather to create a rough surface.

So...

These discs—suitable for both stone and concrete—are specified by their size in millimeters, not by grit. For example, like this:

Grinding Disc

1 piece

Diameter: 115 mm (4.5 inches)
Thickness: 6 mm (0.24 inches)
Inner hole diameter: 22.23 mm (0.88 inches)

Please ask the basement builder or your general contractor to sell you a few discs; that way, you’ll be on the safe side. They don’t cost much.

Kind regards

OK.
The diameter and the inner hole size basically determine whether the disc fits my machine or not.
And the thickness mainly defines how long the disc will last.

I don’t think the basement builder will sell us the discs. Currently, he is much more interested in selling us the complete "service."

Is there anything else we should consider regarding the discs?
