Hello everyone,

What options do you see for a stormproof patio roof that can be partially opened in winter (for example, sliding)? The roof should provide shade in summer (so a glass roof is not necessary) and let through as much light as possible in winter.

Is there a manufacturer for such roofs?

We have the glass roof cleaned twice a year. I’m currently considering whether we should increase that to three times next year.

The awning underneath is, of course, almost always extended at these temperatures – although not in spring or so, as it’s usually sufficient to adjust the slats of the external venetian blinds accordingly.

Cost is always relative; a louvered roof is not more expensive than a glass roof because with a glass roof you also need to add a sunshade. With the louvered roof, you have the advantage that it can be cleaned from underneath at any time. A glass roof can only be cleaned on the top side from above. We also have our louvered roof professionally cleaned twice a year, which helps maintain it for a long time. Combined with the infrared heater, it has been the best investment of the last few months.

What size did you get and how much did you pay?

A major disadvantage of the louver roof for us is that protection from rain comes with shading. One without the other is not possible (to my knowledge).

Well, I don't really see that as a disadvantage. I don't need to anticipate the rain anyway.
