Good evening everyone.

Has anyone here ever had to replace a windowpane?

We have a fixed glass panel of about 3 m² (32 sq ft) with triple glazing that cracked. The replacement is quoted at 1000€ (about $1100). I was pretty shocked since I think the window itself was cheaper…

Is this normal, or is it worth getting quotes from a few more companies?

Good luck

Just call your window manufacturer and have it handled under the warranty. In our case, the glazier had to replace 4 windows because, in one 1.5 x 2.35m (5 x 7.7 ft) unit, the argon gas had escaped, the other large unit had a crack, and the other 2 units had scratches.

All of this only became visible after moving in and the first window cleaning.

Yes, I already did that. It’s not a warranty case, and the offer is exactly 1000€. Unfortunately, I skipped glass insurance...

Two people come, bring a large and heavy pane, install it, remove the old one, and take it away for disposal. 1000€ sounds realistic and not too high.

After how much time and due to what visible impact did this happen (did you perhaps play the Queen of the Night too loudly)?
What does the expert say: frame under stress, incorrect glazing blocks?
Glass panels rarely crack purely by chance.
