Since we are building a house next year, we are currently in the planning phase. I was told that the windows must have a certain size relative to the room size.
Does anyone know how this is regulated? The house construction will take place in Upper Austria.
Best regards

But no matter where you build, due to the brightness everyone wants in their rooms (after all, who wants to live in a bunker), the question is really only theoretical.

That’s basically bunker style.
It’s a subjective matter how bright a room should be for comfort.
I think in standard bedrooms/home offices/children’s rooms, it should be around 20%, but it also depends on the orientation and the surrounding buildings.
In living rooms/dining rooms/kitchens, it can easily be 60-80%.
But the perception varies a lot; for example, my wife actually finds it too open, while I would have preferred even more glass.

How is that supposed to be achieved?
