I wanted to order the interior doors and just measured the rough opening.
In height, I consistently get around 203 cm (80 inches), sometimes including the subfloor. Normally, this should be a standard opening, meaning about 201 cm (79 inches) for the rough opening. However, with these measurements, on Türenheld the doors are considered a special size, starting at 213 cm (84 inches).
How much tolerance is there when installing the frame and the door? Will I really be short if I order the standard size?
According to Türenheld, the rough opening would be 201 cm (79 inches), and the order size 198.5 cm (78 inches).
Additionally, all doors need to have 1.5 to 2 cm (about 0.75 inches) clearance at the bottom due to the ventilation system.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

There’s a reason why I want to install the doors myself. If I had the money to have a carpenter do it, I would.
@Tassimat: According to the information from another supplier, I would have a casing overlap of 4 cm (1.6 inches) with the standard frames/doors. I’ll probably need to talk directly with Türenheld tomorrow to see what they say about that. But if it’s also 4 cm (1.6 inches) there, that should be enough, right?

We installed our doors ourselves as well. To make use of the more affordable standard sizes, we sometimes adjusted the rough opening by adding drywall layers (our openings were wooden, as it was an older building). This is definitely worth considering if you only need to gain a few centimeters (inches). First, you get cheaper doors, and second, the delivery time is usually much shorter than for custom sizes.
Installing the doors is not complicated. Work carefully and patiently, borrow door clamps from a hardware store, and be sure to hang the door leaf while the foam sealant cures. Good luck!

Enrico You don’t need 2 cm (0.8 inches) for ventilation at all, don’t do that nonsense—it’s way too much. Please use transfer grilles instead.
How much does a door cost at Türenheld?
