It would be great if some of you could share pictures of your terraces. With so many options available, it can be difficult to make a decision.

What materials and colors did you choose, and why? What has your experience been like after 5 years or more? How large is your terrace? What did you pay for it? Have you incorporated any features such as umbrella stands, raised garden beds, or similar elements? Did you do the work yourselves? Do you know any reliable suppliers for materials that you would recommend? What would you do differently next time?

There are surely many other homeowners who would appreciate photos and tips. Thanks in advance!

No, it has nothing to do with Stur. It is about rude statements. He or she sends out a photo to the world and receives comments like, “Look at the poor workmanship happening there.” That is unacceptable.

Well, the truth can sometimes be uncomfortable.
It looks good, but there can be issues.
Period.

If he only wants praise, he should post it on Instagram...

As my predecessor said... It doesn’t have to cause problems, but the likelihood is much higher compared to a 'proper' installation. Maybe not within a year, maybe in 4, or maybe never.

Above all, he is still in the phase where it could be corrected. Apparently, he doesn’t want to, which is, of course, his free decision.

I don’t think the intention here was to receive praise, but rather to get constructive criticism instead of a comment that basically says, “Who builds something so ridiculous!”

Laid on crushed stone and swept in with sand... Oh man. Plus crushed stone and compacted... True professionals

If you had backed up that comment with a more detailed explanation, this disagreement probably could have been avoided. But now everything is fine again, and we can continue posting pictures...

By the way, we also have a crushed stone base with sand in the joints. This was suggested by my landscaping contractor and carried out by me. So far, there have been no issues after about 1 1/2 years.
I even had to lift some pavers when installing our patio cover, and at that time there was still a clear separation between the crushed stone and the sand. Of course, I don’t know how it will look in 10 to 20 years...

First gravel, then compacting, followed by crushed stone and paving, and finally jointing. What is wrong with that? This is also how it is done in public road construction for sidewalks.

What is problematic is that there are no joints; apparently this is possible with concrete, and chipping is not considered too serious. The rest with the aggregate is all fine, although even sand is no longer used, but rather 1-3mm (0.04-0.12 inches) crushed sand.
