Hello everyone,

As with the window planning in the floor plan forum, we are now working on fine-tuning the family bathroom on the upper floor. It would be great to get some suggestions or improvement ideas here. Thanks in advance!

Framework conditions:
We are a family (33/35) with one child (1 year old). There is a guest toilet with a shower on the ground floor. The window in this bathroom faces north, if that is relevant. The walls are fixed except for the door corner; the window can still be moved freely left or right. No window is possible on the east side.

Current plan:

Ideas/questions:
  • We had originally considered a T-wall to partially "hide" the toilet, but so far have not found a suitable solution.
  • Would it make sense to swap the bathtub and shower to avoid facing the (solid) shower wall immediately when entering the bathroom?
  • Alternatively, would it make sense to build the shower wall only half-height?
  • Does any other layout make sense? Unconventional ideas are welcome.

Thanks so much in advance!!!

P.S. Where the sink is currently marked, there will of course be a larger double vanity.

I would place the sink against the left wall of the plan. Straighten the bathroom door wall. Use a half-height privacy partition for the toilet. The shower and bathtub can be swapped.

Good solution, @kaho674!
I find it better not to face the toilet while lying in the bathtub. A partition wall at 1.1m (3 ft 7 in) provides a decent level of privacy if someone suddenly enters.

Yes, the option on the right also seems better for the walk-in shower.

Thank you very much for your effort, especially with the drawing, we really like it.

The "problem" with the wall being straight is that we would no longer have access to the bedroom, see the photo below. The bedroom door cannot be lowered further either, because then the wardrobe would no longer fit behind it... But slightly moving the door downwards is possible.

How wide should a vanity unit with integrated cabinetry be at minimum? Currently, it would only be 1.40 m (4 ft 7 in), which seems too "narrow" to us, especially considering that there wouldn’t be room for any other bathroom cabinet elsewhere?!
