Hello everyone,
is it common practice not to install electrical outlets and light switches flush with the wall surface? The developer considers gaps like those shown in the attached photo normal (the offset ranges between 0.5cm and 1.5cm (0.2 and 0.6 inches)). What are your thoughts on this?
Best regards

How bad does that look? I would never accept that. You naturally keep noticing it and get annoyed.
Personally, I have never seen anything like that before. My guess is that they want to avoid responsibility or were too lazy to chase the wall.

Is it like this throughout the entire house or just here?
Were photos taken during the installation of the cables?

This occurs in 4-5 locations in the house (sometimes with more or less offset).
We did not photograph the installation of the pipes.

And the others are straight? What sense does it make if half are straight and the other half are offset? According to the builder’s statement, then all should be offset. I definitely consider that nonsense.
It is a lot of work to get this straight again. In theory, the outlets including the boxes would have to be removed, replastered, and repositioned. All done very carefully so that the wiring does not get damaged...

I stand by my opinion. I would not accept this as is.

I would say that there is more or less an offset in all the power outlets installed below the light switches. Since we are already significantly behind schedule, it is naturally frustrating if the correction would take so much time...

The "if" can be removed. It is time-consuming. I am aware of the misalignment between light switches/power outlets and the underfloor heating controller, as I have read that such issues can occur.

Another question: Why do your walls look so dirty? Are they plaster or drywall?
