Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

It looks good and quite impressive, and the subtle "color change" is well done.

Go to the building materials store and see what they have. Who cares about brands when it comes to paving stones?

Of course, the concern is not the brand but which manufacturer fits the specified grid. The trip to the building materials store is today.

@Axel: Nice house

All right.
Finding anthracite-colored paving stones is not really a challenge.
However, for the terrace, I would choose something of higher quality than plain concrete pavers (definitely not the same as the driveway). But that depends on the budget.

There is enough budget, but the KANN Multitec paving is fine for the terrace for us. Maybe in a different size (I’ve also seen it in 80x80cm (31x31 inches)).

The only variable now is the rest of the site.
- 32.5m (107 feet) double wire mesh fence around the L-shaped concrete blocks at the bottom
- Remove and store another 50cm (20 inches) of garden soil. My estimate: 90-100 cubic meters (3,180-3,530 cubic feet) + extend the stairs down by 2 steps and prepare drainage for the terrace roof
- Pave 170sqm (1,830 sq ft) of paths, driveway, and terrace
- Deliver and spread topsoil

There is a budget of €20,000 (plus labor) available for this.

It is estimated that around €30,000 will remain, as electrical work, plastering, and painting have become cheaper despite updates.

A construction site trailer with loaded pallet boxes secured by orange straps.

Rarely have I sweated so much. After the carrier for our distribution unit delivered a very poor service (not arriving within the 4-hour time slot, then calling to say they were there and 15 minutes later already leaving with the goods), I decided to pick up the distributor myself from the shipping company. The unit is 2m (6.6 feet) tall and, despite the load securing, it swayed quite a bit. After 15km (9.3 miles) and 30 minutes, it safely arrived at the construction site. Phew

Today I was able to see the Trend wood acoustic ceiling for the first time – it’s not completely finished yet. We are very impressed. I can’t quite capture how beautiful it looks in a photo, nor how positively it affects the room acoustics. This is a test shot with my phone camera:

Innenraum mit gewölbter Holzlattendecke, unfertigen Trockenbauwänden und Fenstern.

Baustellenraum mit OSB-Decke, Gerüst, grauen Rigipswänden und rundem Fensterloch.
