ᐅ Gas or Heat Pump? Experiences and Feedback

Hello everyone,

We are planning a new build with approximately 190 sqm (2,045 sq ft), two stories, without a basement. The attic, about 65 sqm (700 sq ft), will be converted to include a bathroom and a storage room. The house will have a brick veneer exterior and will be built according to the energy-saving regulations. It is for a household of five people (2 adults + 3 children).
A mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery and KNX home automation are planned (if the budget allows, specifically for the KNX).
Once the house is completed, I would like to add solar thermal and photovoltaic systems after a few years.

I’m having trouble deciding between gas heating or a heat pump.

The gas connection costs me €2,500.

Could you help me make this decision?
And which manufacturer would you recommend?

Thanks!!!

Regards

In my opinion, if you want to do some work yourself, a trench collector combined with a Nibe heat pump is the optimal solution. In addition, a photovoltaic system as large as possible, for example around 30kWp if you want to go for that.

With government subsidies and you doing the work yourself, the total cost is about 25,000 to 35,000 euros. In return, you will have no heating or electricity costs and even earn roughly 200 euros per month.

(This is a rough outline of what is possible)

The costs are obviously not irrelevant.

If it is a standard offer within the mentioned range, the total costs become irrelevant in the end, depending on the size of the system.

Gas and nothing else. It is the most economical option.

I’m not familiar with this combination at all... sounds definitely interesting. What distinguishes Nibe from other manufacturers?

Which companies install systems like a horizontal ground loop collector? I assume you need a building permit / planning permission?

Hmm......

Thank you!

That is a fact, not an opinion. Just calculate it yourself. Gas runs without problems for 25 years, while your heat pump is worn out after 15 years. Maintenance costs are also many times higher.

Nobody wants to hear that, though.
