Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The roof over the dormers appears to be extremely flat. At single-digit angles, the tiles are technically challenged regarding wind load and water drainage. You may have therefore been provided with a metal roof.

Oh dear
These downspouts really spoil the visual appearance quite a bit

I thought the same, but if there are windows at the corners, there isn’t much choice...

The downspouts could have been hidden inside the wall. That’s what we did—there isn’t a single downspout visible on the exterior, though it is more technically demanding (also due to frost protection, etc.). The simplest alternative in this case would be the traditional chains instead of a downspout, running down the outside corners to the ground. As it is now, the downspouts dominate the view and distract from the effect of the expensive corner windows.

I really like the Scanhaus Marlow Marlow by seat88. The Scanhaus designs all seem to have those protruding downpipes, which is probably more cost-effective. I checked his old thread, and despite all the warnings, his house is standing—slightly smaller than he might have hoped, but nice. I also think the interior layout is well done.

The downpipes are due to the roof overhang of 1.4 meters (4.6 feet).
