Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Yes, it has its own unique kind of beauty, doesn’t it?
I’m really looking forward to the day when the new building starts rising from the ground. At the moment, it all still feels somewhat purely destructive – although with a positive goal in mind.

Demolition is progressing! Since Tuesday, all above-ground structures have been demolished. Yesterday, they started intensively breaking down the large rubble. Let’s see how it looks when I drive by again this evening. The original plan was to have most of the demolition finished before Easter so we could begin excavation immediately afterward.

Are you letting them do the breaking?
Breaking was unaffordable for us two years ago.
We disposed of 750 cubic meters (about 980 cubic yards) of unbroken material.

A gravel driveway is a nice feature and, in my opinion, very durable.

However, clearing snow in winter is really not enjoyable...

Yeah, about the same as cobblestones.

In winter, you can simply add gravel again, which you won’t have to sweep away in spring. Win-win.
