ᐅ Is the real estate market increasingly forcing families to build their own homes?

Actually, we would prefer to avoid building. Unfortunately, existing properties within a 20 km (12 miles) radius have become quite expensive, and affordable rental houses with small gardens are simply scarce.

Until now, we have been living in an old rental apartment without a garden. We would like to change that, but there is a lack of options. The listings on various platforms are overcrowded with families looking for affordable housing.

Who is familiar with this situation, and how do you deal with it?

That’s exactly what I meant, Mr. Know-it-all.

Sorry, I couldn’t tell. Since you were responding to Karsten, and he lives in a residential area rather than a remote location, I assumed we were talking about residential areas.

Funny, until the last sentence, I thought you were talking about Nazis or the AfD supporters...

What exactly was claimed? Whether it is false or true, I will judge for myself.

I don’t believe that all AfD supporters have Asperger’s.
However, I also don’t understand your comment, so I ask you to clarify the issue.

1) Thunberg: Asperger’s syndrome includes a tendency to fixate completely on one issue, to block out everything else, and to become less able to communicate. This applies to her. She cannot communicate her demands and worldview with people who, for example, work at RWE in lignite mining. However, that communication is necessary because they are also part of the situation. A communicative solution must be found with them. Immediate removal is not an option.

2) Open fires burn thousands of times in German stoves and fireplaces. The grilling season is also just around the corner.

3) Restrictions, zoning plans, the lighthouse: There are factual restrictions (roof heights, distances, building envelopes, etc.) as well as ideological ones, such as mandatory planting requirements tied to zoning plans.

4) Air and sea travel: A flight to Mallorca does not cost just 30.00. That fare might be paid by about 10 people on the plane, while others pay 300.00. There will be an average price clearly above 30. Ships: Those familiar with refineries know that you cannot simply produce gasoline. When gasoline is distilled, diesel and heavy fuel oils remain as byproducts. If these cannot be consumed, then what happens to them? Ships consume heavy fuel oil.

Conclusion: Think carefully before imposing legal restrictions. There is no life with a perfectly clean conscience. K.

I just wanted to say that a full thermal insulation system doesn’t last forever and sometimes has to be replaced after a relatively short period. More waste and, above all, higher costs.

What kind of "full thermal insulation" is that, which needs to be replaced after how short a time?

Short time – relatively short time = around 20 years. Unfortunately, I don’t know exactly what was installed at my mother-in-law’s place, but it’s not exactly great.
