Hello everyone,

We have just received a quote from our plumber for the maintenance of the heating system.
The following services are included in the offer:

Inspection of the household water filter for proper function, including replacement of the filter cartridge
Maintenance of the small sewage lifting station, including cleaning if necessary
Maintenance of the air-to-water heat pump, consisting of:
Cleaning of the heat exchanger in the outdoor unit
Leak check on both the refrigerant and water sides
Function check of pumps, mixing valves, compressor, etc.
Operational testing of the control system
Inspection of the sacrificial anode in the domestic hot water tank
Inspection of the in-wall bathroom exhaust fan, including filter replacement

Net price: 262 €

What do you think of this?
Is it reasonable or not?
Are the costs appropriate or too high?

Yes, exactly, it is a maintenance contract that lasts until you cancel.
Yes, the 260€ is for what I listed above.

I will check the water filter this evening and let you know what type it is.

The house water filter is a Sanibel comfort WFD. The filter costs approximately 30 EUR and, according to the instructions, should be replaced every 6 months.

The polish for the outdoor unit

I assume the heat exchanger is meant to be cleaned, meaning dust and other debris removed from the fins. I would definitely do that, preferably every autumn (before the heating season).

Is it a problem if something is there?

A visual inspection and a quick blow-through you can do yourself. If you don’t have an air compressor, you can buy canned compressed air for about 5€.

By the way, it’s worth checking the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions to see if cleaning is even necessary. After all, this unit is designed for outdoor use. Dusting it off is more like something you'd do for a display case.

Overall, these services often include about 50% travel or call-out charges. I wouldn’t opt for that.

So, we decided not to do that. I will change the filters myself. I just need to check which type of inline exhaust fan we have in the bathroom.

In the basement, the whole-house water filter is a Sanibel Comfor WFD. According to the instructions, the filter should be replaced every 6 months. Should we do that, or is once a year enough?
