Hello everyone.
I’m looking for some nice ideas to design our “front garden.”
It faces east, with a bit of southern sun coming around the corner as well.
The actual front garden is on the south side, and the style will likely continue there in a similar way as on the east side...

One idea was to cover everything with stones and let grasses grow.
Another thought was to plant a hedge along the fence.
Or should I keep it more or less as it is and just plant a few new, attractive shrubs and bushes?
The rooms you see are our children’s bedrooms, and unfortunately, there is also a main road nearby (from where I took the photo).

Hmm. Do you have any opinions on this? Or maybe some ideas and tips?

Looking forward to suggestions. Thank you!
Merymery

I am looking for the front yard shown in the photos. The one that is squeezed between the house and the street.
So, it includes a pathway to the front door.
Photos of a front view would be helpful.
Stones instead of a garden? No way!

The response will probably be limited since neither your photos nor your text provide any clear information. How large is the area? What is its shape?
A simple hand sketch can sometimes work wonders. If this really only concerns 4-5m² (43-54 sq ft) of space, I don’t see much need for detailed planning.

Stones so close to the forest – who wants to keep them clean?

Is this the only access path to the back of the house? If yes, it should remain passable.
Perhaps just a wildflower meadow. It doesn’t need to be mowed weekly.

If not,
perennials and ground cover.

Even here in the more rural parts of Bavaria, it has now become a disaster when it comes to these stones in front yards/gardens. Everything gets paved over and filled with colorful gravel, etc.... and then people rush to sign petitions like "Save the Bees."

Whatever you do, don’t do that.

The bees are dying solely because of the farmers. My rock garden and my robotic lawn mower are innocent.

I'm curious to see how things will develop. Maybe the dull gardens will disappear again. Apparently, a comprehensive package is supposed to come.
