Hello,

We have been living in our house for several months now, and with the cold season, we have been using the wood stove.
It is the Hark 112 Ecoplus model.
Since we are still new to this area, I would like to know about your experiences with cleaning the glass door.
Currently, we use firewood purchased from a hardware store. We have heard that this is not the best quality. However, we currently lack dry storage options for other wood, which is often delivered in larger quantities.

After nearly every use, the glass gets quite sooty and needs to be cleaned. Is it the same for you, or are we doing something wrong?
Cleaning the glass after every nice fire is quite time-consuming.
I make sure to place the logs as far away from the glass as possible.

Best regards,

Allow more air, then it won’t produce soot. Is the wood hardwood or softwood? How dry is it really?

I already allowed a lot of air during the last fire. But you don’t really want to burn the wood too quickly through the stove.
Well, I can only quote in good faith from the label on the wood: hardwood and residual moisture probably below 20%.

Pile up enough wood, then fully open the air vent, and light it using two or three wood wool firelighters. If you want to know how to start a fire correctly, just search for "how to light a fireplace properly."

The fire should then burn without producing too much soot.

But you’ve already checked the fresh air supply, right? Make sure nothing is blocked, like construction materials forgotten inside or something similar.

Also, see if you can get someone with a wood moisture meter. In the end, the logs might simply not be dry enough.

I think you’re being a bit stingy with the wood fire.

But actually, you don’t want to push the wood through the stove too quickly.

Wood needs to burn, and if the stove gets hot enough, even the soot will burn off.
Get a cubic meter (35 cubic feet) of wood dried in a pressure chamber sometime. Just cover it with a tarpaulin. Wood should be stored outside.
My husband cleans the glass roughly every 6 to 7 uses.

Yep, about every 10-15 times, I already notice a clear buildup of soot on the upper left and right sides. But not enough to be bothersome.
