Hello everyone,

So far, our building specifications include standard window handles made of plastic. Naturally, we prefer the version with stainless steel handles much more.

Is it possible to simply remove the handles on modern windows and retrofit new stainless steel handles? It shouldn’t be a problem since you can also install handles with locks on patio doors, for example.

Is there a catch to this? It feels like it would be more cost-effective this way, doesn’t it?

Why should that look better? I assume you will have white interiors – who wants to draw attention to their window handles? Usually, people prefer not to make them visually prominent in the window frame.

Why not, they can be profile-colored, right?

Show me a picture and tell me one positive property other than plastic.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I find that modern uPVC windows are not immediately recognizable as such at first glance.
However, if you take a closer look, there is hardly anything that screams "I am the cheap version" more than a white plastic handle, simply because nobody would use something like that on any other type of window.

If you choose a different handle (for example, stainless steel), the illusion remains even on a second look, and only a detailed inspection reveals the truth.

So why not focus on a well-made illusion? It works for lipstick too :-D

Hm, I don’t have to fool anyone, I’m not ashamed of plastic windows. I would have chosen white handles as well, but my husband preferred stainless steel. I can live with that too, it looks good.

I have nothing against plastic windows and don’t need to cover them with stainless steel.

@Dr Hix
The comparison to lipstick doesn’t really fit. I see more of a pale face that has added a self-drawn beauty mark.
The user finds it attractive, but everyone else thinks it’s ugly and just stares at that dark spot that doesn’t belong there at all 😀
