House Design
- Architect

What do you particularly like?
The existing layout, storage space under the stairs, three possible children’s rooms, bay window in the living room, exposed steel beams in the kitchen and living room, textured clinker brick facade, overall style of the house

What do you not like?
So far, there is no natural light in the stairwell, which is why there is a desire for a partially open roof structure

Preferred heating system:
Geothermal

Why is the design as it is now?
The architect has fully followed our specifications and wishes

What is the most important/fundamental question about the floor plan?

Would a partially open roof structure be possible? Do you have any experience with this? Do you have alternatives to Wittmunder torfbruch clinker? If yes, where did you get yours?

Progress is steadily moving forward; since the ground floor is mostly completed, we are now waiting for the ceiling. During this waiting period, our construction company has already started the bricklaying work. Our house corners will be finished with bricks as shown in the example in the picture. Initially, we were concerned that the bricks might not be red enough, but now we find that was completely unfounded.
Best regards

The brick facade looks very good – is it reclaimed? It has such a nice irregular appearance.

These are handmade clinker bricks, so each one looks different. We hoped for this effect since there was no reference house in the DF format, and we basically bought almost blindly.

Well, not everyone can handle DF anyway.
It only works with narrow window frames and/or grout lines that are not too contrasting; otherwise, it becomes too busy.

Now you're scaring me, how narrow should the window frames be? Our outer window frame is 82mm (3.2 inches) thick.

... so you don’t want steel frame windows? ("industrial style")
